  15. Prepare 1 tbsp sumac powder
  16. Make ready 1 tsp dry basil

  19. Prepare 1/2 tsp Red Chilli flakes
  20. Make ready 1/4 tsp Salt or as per taste
  21. Take 2 tbsp Olive oil

Manakish Zaatar is a traditional Lebanese variety of pita bread spiced with Zaatar. This Middle Eastern delicacy is similar to a pizza, made of soft pita base topped with zaatar spice mix. Zaatar spice mix is a slightly sour spice which is a mixture of sumac berries (dried and powdered), thyme, oregano, sesame seeds and some salt. The za'atar man'ouche is very rich and healthy.

Instructions to make Zataar Braided Bread:
  1. For bread, take sugar in a bowl, add dry active yeast and lukewarm water and keep aside till frothy.
  2. Take all purpose flour in a deep mixing bowl, - add milk powder, salt or as per taste.
  3. Add peprika,dry basil, oregano and onion powder, - now add frothy yeast mixture.
  4. Add olive oil and required water and knead dough.
  5. When dough done, cover this and keep aside this for 1 and 1/2 hour or till double in size.
  6. For zataar filling, roast sesame seeds, take Sumac powder add dry basil
  7. Oregano
  8. Transfer roasted sesame seeds in a sumac bowl mixture, and coarsaly crushed it and transfer in a bowl.
  9. Add salt as per taste
  10. Add olive oil, ground cumin powder, red chilli flakes
  11. When dough done, transfer in kitchen platform and knead again, now divide into 2 half and make balls of this.
  12. Take 1 ball and roll in length wise, fill the prepared zataar, spread evenly, - now fold this carefully.
  13. Left 1 inch from corner, make cut in middle and divide into two half, - now overlap one half to other.
  14. Now joint both corner, and keep in lined baking dish, prepare other roll like this and keep it also in baking dish.
  15. Now left it for 1/2 an hour for prooving, when it's done.
  16. Bake this in preheated oven at 190* to 200* for 30 to 35 minutes or till completely done.
  17. Now Zataar Bread ready to serve, enjoy it.

Zaatar spice mix is a slightly sour spice which is a mixture of sumac berries (dried and powdered), thyme, oregano, sesame seeds and some salt. The za'atar man'ouche is very rich and healthy. In Lebanon many people would have it for breakfast to start the day with energy, as the za'atar would provide a boost of magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc. It is common to serve the za'atar man'ouche accompanied with Lebanese cucumbers, olives, mint and tomatoes. Chicken cutlets take on a delicious, and perfectly crispy breading with za'atar and toasted sesame seeds, while remaining melt-in-your-mouth tender.
