Gyūdon (牛丼, "beef bowl"), also known as gyūmeshi (牛飯 or 牛めし, "beef [and] rice"), is a Japanese dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with beef and onion simmered in a mildly sweet sauce flavored with dashi (fish and seaweed stock), soy sauce and mirin (sweet rice wine). Japanese Gyudon, thinly sliced fatty beef cooked in a slightly sweet mixture of mirin and soy sauce served over rice. Topped with an egg, Gyudon is the best! I'd sit down to a bowl of hand-pulled noodles at a hideaway noodle bar on Monday, and head to a Yunnan Hot Pot restaurant on Tuesday.

Steps to make Gyudon: Japanese beef bowl:
  1. Pan fry the beef
  2. Add in cut onions after the beef changes colour
  3. Add in the mix once onion is soft.
  4. Put the lid on a cook it on low heat for about 15 min until onion is soft
  5. Add the rice in a bowl.

  7. And it’s done!! (Egg is optional)
