  11. Get 1/2 cup Barrio Fiesta Regular Shrimp Paste(bagoong alamang), to be served later

Kare kare is a delicious oxtail stew made with peanut sauce that originates from the Philippines. Oxtail Kare-Kare is a signature Filipino dish made with boiled and tenderized oxtails in a savory peanutbutter sauce and topped with assorted cooked vegetables. Place ox tripes in a pot and fill with water. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste.

Steps to make Kare-kare(oxtail and tripe in peanut sauce):
  1. Boil the oxtail for 2 hours or until tender. If you have pressure cooker, cook it for 45minutes max. Then add the ox tripe and onions and boil for another 1 hour.
  2. On separate pan, blanch the bokchoy, string beans and eggplant and set aside.
  3. If the meat is tender, put Mama Sita's kare-kare mix, atchuete, salt and peanut butter. Let it boil in low heat for 10 minutes stirring occasionaly.
  4. Serve with blanched veggies and shrimp paste over hot rice. Enjoy! :)
